The Holy Spirit is a Person, one of the three Persons in the Godhead or Trinity. He is equal with God the Father and God the Son. As His name implies, he has no physical form, he is a spirit, and sometimes He is called the Holy Ghost.

When a person is separated from God by sin, The Holy Spirit is absent from that person; the person has been born physically, but not spiritually. When a person’s sin is permanently dealt with through the Son, Jesus Christ, then the Holy Spirit will indwell or possess that new believer for the rest of his or her life.  This is the second birth, physical birth as a baby, and spiritual birth through Christ; Jesus said “you must be born again”.

Once saved, the believer becomes one with God and whatever nagging doubts he or she had before responding to God’s call are removed when his or her heart and mind are joined with God. There will still be doubts and struggles, but they will be momentary or episodic issues that can be overcome with faith.
